Impulse Adjusting Instrument

The Shepherd Chiropractic Clinic utilizes many techniques to help move patients forward in their care. You will notice an impulse instrument in each adjustment room across from each adjustment table.  This instrument is the most researched adjusting tool in the profession and we have found it to be invaluable in caring for many of our patients in special populations.  This instrument was developed by Dr. Christopher Colloca who has been awarded the professions researcher of the year and awarded many research grants pertaining to the Impulse instrument.  Keeping things simple,this instrument produces a rapid gentle impulse to the spine or surrounding structures that can include muscles and ligaments.  The rapid impulses create an oscillation to the spine creating reflex change to tight muscles and ligaments that provides correction and relief to areas of the spine that are injured and not functioning normally.  Because it is so gentle it can be used with infants as well as the elderly with osteoporosis.  Chiropractic adjustments with the Impulse adjusting instrument feels like a light tapping sensation on the area that is being treated.  In most cases the adjustment is painless and after the adjustment many patients feel relief of pain and improved mobility.  Others report a sense of well-being or a soothing calm feeling. Extreme Speed:Impulse is twice as fast as other adjusting instruments and 100X faster than hands on adjusting.  The gentle tapping is faster than the body’s tendency to tighten up to resist the adjustment.

High Frequency Digital X-Rays

At Shepherd Chiropractic,when necessary,doctors can obtain high quality digital X-Rays.  As documented by the National Institutes of Health,a high frequency generator,“was approximately two times more efficient,had a better reproducibility,and produced images with a lower contrast than the SP (single phase) generator.”  NIH  Coupled with a fully digital capture system,Shepherd Chiropractic offers its patients the highest quality lowest risk X-Ray solution available.  X-Rays studies can also be conveniently burned to a CD or emailed to other institutions when necessary.
